Acer AL2216W – 22-inch Value Line LCD Monitor
Part of a simultaneous launch of three large LCD monitors is the 22″ Acer AL2216W – a new member of Acer’s budget Value Line.
With a native resolution of 1680×1050, a 5ms true response time (since Acer’s website does not list it as a grey-to-grey value) and a 700:1 contrast ratio, the AL2216W is definitely a solid piece of work by Acer. Add in analogue D-sub and DVI inputs (TrustedReviews says the AL2216W doesn’t have DVI, but Acer’s website seems to state otherwise) and you have a screen with a lot of potential – especially given Acer’s generous price points for its Value Line.
But “potential” is all the AL2216W has at the moment since Acer has yet to reveal any pricing information on the LCD screen. Worse still is the fact that Acer has announced that this version of the AL2216W will be replaced by a HDCP-enabled one a few months down the road. You might think Acer’s telling us not to touch the AL2216W until its newer incarnation surfaces…

[...] Last, but definitely not least of the three new LCD screens recently introduced by Acer is the 26″ Acer AL2616W. Like the smaller AL2216W we featured earlier, this screen will come under Acer’s budget Value Line – which is a good thing for those among you looking for more virtual real estate on the cheap. [...]

[...] It comes with a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA), a 6 ms grey-to-grey response time, and a 1000:1 contrast ratio, along with analogue D-sub and DVI-D inputs. So, specs-wise, like its little bro we featured earlier, it’s very respectable. [...]

[...] Remember the 22″ Acer AL2216W LCD monitor announced last month? Well, no surprise if you don’t because barely any information had surfaced then, but no excuses now because it has officially been launched in the US – at a recommended price of US$399. [...]

They’ve been “launched” for a week, but you can’t find/buy them anywhere. If you see them online, let me know.

I have a 22″ acer since two weeks now. The upgrade for me from 17-19″ crt in space is very pleasant. The display seems about just big enough for my vision without having to turn my head, though I wouldn’t mind a 30″..
It does suffer some ghosting and I’ll probably try to get another model..I probably got a lemon. Anyway, the size and overall performance is okay.
I bought it for € 430.

Got 2 pieces replace my 3 x 17″ BenQ, love it.
Brightness is great, contrast ratio very reasonable level. I could have choice either use DVI-D or VGA. My new AMD motherboard came nVidia dual but only allow one vga and one dvi-d. I could therefore inter switchable.
I Remember paid more a few years back for crappy BenQ FP767 plus I’ve to use 2 video card to activate 3 monitors just to get what I want my pc do. Now I could get the same viewing estate without even require extra video card.
I hope Acer could come out lower or cheaper High Definition 24″ or so at the same price in future. I would definitely go for it again.

Just bought one of these this afternoon here in Toronto, Ontario. Came to $315 CAD. Definitely a step up from my 19″!
