Acer Aspire 3628AWXCI Review
Quite a bit dated specs-wise, but price-wise, there’s really not much to complain about. Nevertheless, Digit-Life.com takes a look, and reviews whether the 1.7GHz Intel® Pentium® M-powered notebook is actually good enough for “comfortable operation”.
Not surprisingly, the 14.1″ Acer (with 60GB HDD and 256MB RAM) managed to scrape good feedback (hey, we are talking about Acer and a low price point, right?). They conclude that: “The notebook pleased me. It is no genius, but it has a good keyboard layout, a convenient wide panel, and most importantly it’s indecently cheap. It’s a very good solution for the money in abstract terms. But for the situation with technical support. It turns a purchase of this notebook into a big lottery. But the money…”

I have an Acer Laptop. I tried to install Microsoft OneCare. After working with Microsoft, spending more than 3 hours per day for 4 days, it was discovered that my installation problem was my Acer incompatability. That being resolved, the next problem was the lose of Excell due to the installation. I look forward to more hours of being on hold to fix this second Acer problem.
So I can say, having an Acer is a problem if you want trouble-free installations.

I own an Acer laptop. I purchased Microsoft OneCare and have suffered through 4 days of average 3 hours per day of phone/tech help. Finally installation was completed, after Acer incompatability was corrected. Then my Excell was lost. I now look forward to many hours of work to recover Excell, again due to problems with Acer.
I can say owing an Acer is a problem if you want easy installations.

[…] I want one of these. I promise to be honest and disclose and give a thorough review, but I really, really want one just like Scott Beale’s. Even though Christmas is over, can I please, pretty please, have one? [mazda spoiler]

I have an Acer Aspire 3610WLMi and the cover is cracking and the hinges are all broken up.
I am not satisfied at all with this product and I have only had this product for about one year.
Customer service at Acer did not help me whatsoever. I strongly believe that this product needs to be recalled as soon as possible!
Do not waste your money on an Acer laptop… I am not buying another Acer product ever again!

I Totally agree with Bryan’s coments on February 4th,2008. I have encountered the exact same problem with the hinges cracking. Two other friends have the same laptop the Aspire 3003WLCi and have the same cracked hinges in the same spot. This company has also had problems in the past with battery chargers overheating. I don’t trust Acer. This product and many more from Acer are complete JUNK and a waste of money. (There TV’s Suck as well) My advice to someone looking to buy a laptop is to do somemore research and spend a bit more money on a product that isn’t designed to fail in 14 months.
