[...] This 12.1″ widescreen ultraportable was hinted at around a month back, but only today was it officially announced by Dell. Featuring a Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) Intel Core Solo U1300 (1.06GHz) processor, it will probably be slightly weaker performance-wise in comparison with Acer’s upcoming 12.1″ offering, the Ferrari 1000 (AMD Turion 64 X2). Of course, this will only be the case if Acer decides to ramp up the GHz on their model. [...]

[...] The previous pictures of the Acer Ferrari 1000 we saw were only of the front-side of the system, leading us (or rather, me) to conclude that it wouldn’t be very much different styling-wise compared to the Ferrari 5000. [...]

Aiks, I thought I combed notebookreview.com and notebookforums.com already.

Thanks a lot for the info. Will edit the post ASAP.

<strike>But from the pics of the Ferarri 1000, the styling looks similar to the F5000 to me, but then, TrustedReviews only has a front-side view. How is the styling very different?</strike> Oops, I'm starting to see the differences. Need more sleep...

You state "We currently have no idea whether the picture attached to Acer’s news release is for the F5000 or F1000, but we’ll presume both look about the same - just different in size."

The picture you show is the Acer Ferrari 5000, which is closely based on the TravelMate 8204WLMi. The Acer Ferrari 1000 has very different styling.

You can see pictures of both here:

(note there's pricing info on the second page of the second link)
