  1. I’ll go straight to the point. I’m not a fan of white. Yes, many of the cool things I’ve had the oppotunity of owning, e.g. iPods, are decked in white, but if I had a choice, I’d have gone with black. Why? White is overly plain. White gets dirty far too easily. Black is just way cooler.

So, when I had a look at the upcoming lightweight widescreen Intel Core Duo-powered Acer TravelMate 3020, I just had to say, “Urghh!” Of course, quite a number of you will disagree with me, but well, it’s a personal bias.

Anyway, we don’t have any substantial specs available to discuss, but given that the TM3020 will feature an external optical drive, it’s probably have a 12-13 inch screen. That’s how Acer has been doing things so far anyway.

  2. We didn’t have any specs to discuss when Acer gave a preview of the Acer TravelMate 3020 a month back. We did know it was white though.

Anyway, it seems that the TM3020 is a 12.1-inch ultraportable, primarily targeted at female consumers. But despite its target market, the notebook comes with up to a 2.16GHz Core Duo processor and 120GB hard disk drive. And like the rest of Acer’s dual core offerings, the TravelMate 3020 will come equipped with a 1.3-megapixel camera and A/B/G wireless support. Of course, the main draw will be the 3.3 pound weight.

A basic configuration will be sold at US$1770.

  3. I hope you guys still remember the all-white Acer TravelMate 3020 that was previewed two to three months back because that very notebook has finally been launched officially in Europe.

For those who have forgotten, some of the key features of this model include its light weight (at only 1.5kg), small dimensions (i.e. “A4 sheet”), Acer GraviSense technology (anti-shock technology) and 12.1″ WXGA LCD screen. Acer also managed to squeeze in its 1.3 megapixel Acer OrbiCam as well, and you have the option of equipping the model with a Bluetooth VOIP phone to round up the 3020’s strong connectivity (tri-mode Wi-Fi, i.e. a/b/g, Bluetooth 2.0).

Weirdly, Acer didn’t provide pricing details in its latest press release – even though prior rumors put the TM3020 at US$1770. And to think that price will probably be the main reason why most tech-savvy consumers would want to purchase Acer’s all-white ultraportable (remember the MacBook…).
